Anica Profitt

is 13 years old
She
started gymnastics about 4 years ago.
She
is a grade 8 student at the ACE School in Swakopmund.
Anica is a Junior Olympic (FIG) rhythmic gymnast
and works with apparatus such as rope, hoop, ribbon
and ball in her individual routines.
Being
very supple and also very strong is a prerequisite of becoming
a top rhythmic gymnast she says.
Anica represented the Namibia Gymnastics Federation
twice at the Zone 6 competition
and received gold team medals every time.
She
also represented the NGF at the SA Games
when she still did the levels program.
Training
3 hours a day at the Walvis Bay Gymnastics Club with coach
Roumiana Kostin,
gave her the opportunity to develop her skills and to travel .
She
says it’s also a wonderful way to meet other people
who love the sport as much as she does.
Gymnastics
has also ensured a sense of commitment and determination and brought an
increased concentration level for her school work.
Anica’s dream is to represent
To
her being a member of the team that brought back gold team medals
at the Zone 6 competitions for
being named her club’s rhythmic gymnast of the year are her
greatest achievements to date.
Her role model is Anna Bessonova, the World Champion.
‘She
is my role model because she did not allow politics (sometimes bad) in the
sport to bring her down’, states Anica.
To
her it is 100% better to spend your time in the gym and
not on the streets and if you persist, you will also travel the
world one day.
